Adventure Travel Activities

Adventure Travel Activities
Rock Climbing
a popular adventure travel activity
The rapid growth of adventure travel is now represented by a wide variety of adventure travel activities.

A distinction can be made between "Soft" and "Hard" activities. Soft activities have a lower level of risk and are less physically rigorous. Hard activities have higher risk factor and greater physical challenges (ie: mountain climbing, backpacking or river expeditions). Frequently trip providers can adjust the activity to meet the skill level and desire of the adventure traveler. A good example is climbing. Many climbing guide services can accommodate inexperienced climbers, and have routes that are easier and present much lower risk.

A clear-cut list of adventure travel activities doesn't exist. However, the following list of activities provides a good reference of the types of activities one can expect.

For many, the "Adventure" in adventure travel is trying something new. I make it a goal to experience activities I haven't participated in before.
